Webster鈥檚 MA in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages equips you to build your expertise in helping children and adults around the globe master the English language, which is considered a vital tool for education, careers and cultural connection.
Through Webster's TESOL degree program, you will learn second language acquisition theories, craft engaging lessons and design curriculum that meets the needs of diverse learners. You will graduate with the skills to succeed in any teaching environment, from K-12 classrooms in the U.S. to classrooms throughout the world. Our global campus network facilitates interaction with learners from around the world through online education or through in-person study at one of our international campuses.
The coursework in the TESOL program meets the standards defined by (SPA). Additionally, the program is nationally recognized by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) for (TESOL) to prepare teachers to teach English as a Second or Foreign Language. Webster鈥檚 MA in TESOL is the only nationally recognized TESOL program in the state of Missouri.

Teaching K-12 English Language Learners (ELL)
The Teaching K-12 English Language Learners emphasis will qualify you to teach and support English learners in K-12 public schools in Missouri. It includes required coursework for Missouri ELL Certification. Candidates in the K-12 emphasis must already have initial teaching certification for public schools in Missouri.
Teaching English as a Second or Foreign Language (ESL/EFL)
Our Teaching English as a Second or Foreign Language emphasis prepares you to teach English in university settings, community colleges, language centers and others settings that do not require state K-12 certification. You will be ready to advance your career internationally in countries where English is not a primary language. It also allows candidates the option to receive their TEFL Certificate, which is highly valued in the international market.
International Education
Webster's globally recognized International Education emphasis qualifies you to teach English as a Foreign Language (TEFL). The International Education emphasis also includes the TEFL Certificate for teaching internationally.
