In the Department of Teacher Education, undergraduates study traditional education and explore issues in the field of educational philosophy, theory and methodology through a variety of professional activities.

Education majors and minors develop knowledge and pedagogical skills through curriculum based on current research and effective practice. Apprentice Teaching

All Education degree students complete their degree with teaching experience. Apprentice teaching placements are with the St. Louis City, St. Louis County, St. Charles County and Jefferson County School Districts along with private and independent schools.

Combine Your Degree with a STEM Double Major

Students pursuing the BA in Education with an Emphasis in Secondary Biology, Chemistry or Mathematics who declare a double major in a STEM-related field (Biology, Chemistry, Math or Computer Science) may apply for the WESTbound Success Scholarship, with up to $15,000 per academic year for their junior and senior years. Transfer students are also eligible.

All of our BA in Education degrees are designed to provide the foundation for teacher preparation leading to initial Missouri teacher certification and are approved by the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
